Meet Pastor Mike

Pastor Mike grew up splitting time between Buckeye, Arizona — where he spent his high school years working on his family's ranch — and Washington state, where he spent much of his career and pastoral ministry.

Mike became a Christian in 1986, but he'll be the first to tell you that his faith journey was a slow and steady one. It wasn't until 2002 that he truly plugged into the local church. From that point on, his love for serving Jesus and the people around him took off.

Over the years, Mike has served in many different ministry and leadership roles, each one helping to shape his heart for people and for the Word of God. In 2015, he answered God's call to pastoral ministry.

Pastor Mike spent several years traveling and preaching in churches across the Pacific Northwest as a pulpit supply pastor before accepting his first permanent role as a pastor in Quincy, Washington, in 2020. After faithfully serving there, he felt God's call to a new adventure at Morningside Yuma, joining us in October 2023.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Washington and a Master of Divinity in Christian Leadership from Andersonville Theological Seminary. His style of preaching is simple: teach the Bible clearly and faithfully, and help people respond joyfully to God's gift of salvation. Mike calls it "Joyful Accountability" — learning God's truth, living it out, and finding joy along the way.

Mike has always seen himself less as a "preacher" and more as a "teacher," helping people read and understand Scripture in a way that feels personal, real, and transformative.

He and his wife Amanda have been married since 2000. Amanda is a local teacher here in Yuma, and together they have two grown children, Brandon and Madison, who are both attending college in the Phoenix area.

We would love for you to come visit Morningside Yuma — meet Pastor Mike, Amanda (and their kiddos when they're in town!), and discover how the Word of God can change your story too.
